Samsung Gear VR (Review)

I recently bought the Samsung Gear VR and I have to say, I am quite pleased with it. The tracking is smooth and when you turn your head around, it looks natural in the device. Setup was fairly straight forward and to the point, and the apps/games you can get for the device are very well done (Some apps/games are obviously better than others). The prices for the games are a little more expensive than apps in the Play Store, but the apps are worth the price. Please see the end for a list of apps I recommend getting for the Gear VR.

I read that you could sometimes get motion sickness from wearing it too long but I have yet to experience that, I also haven't used it for extended periods of time. The one complaint I have, and it's most likely not because of the device, is my phone seems to overheat quickly while having it plugged in, when this happens, the quality of use depletes a lot. Movement becomes sketchy and becomes annoying. There are little tips and tricks to keep your device cool, but I won't get into those here.

All in all, I give this piece of technology 4 out of 5 stars. Overall, it's a very cool device and does some pretty awesome things, the thing that kept it from reaching 5 stars is the prices of some of the apps, and the fact that my phone tends to overheat a little too quickly (probably not the gears fault). I recommend springing the $80 - $100 on this, just be aware that your device might overheat quickly, keep that in your mind before purchasing (or just keep your receipt).

Let me know in the comments what you think of the Samsung Gear VR.

Some apps I recommend if you have/get the Samsung Gear VR (Which can only be obtained from the Oculus store) are as follows.
  • Samsung Internet (Used for watching YouTube in the Gear VR as well as browsing the internet in a VR space)
  • GrooVR (Allows you to listen to music while watching really cool visualizations)
  • Moon Player (Allows you to watch VR videos you download to your phone from outside sources)
  • Within (Has an assortment of different VR videos)
  • Netflix (Allows you to watch Netflix in a virtual living room on a big screen TV)
  • Dark Days (A great horror VR Escape Room game)
  • Sisters (I have not played it long but from what I can tell, another great horror VR game)

No Man's Sky (Review)

I have paid for and got No Man's Sky around when it came out. I have to say I was not very impressed. It did not fall below expectation for me, I knew it was going to be a large, I knew it was going to be in space, I knew there was going to be blasting. What I didn't know is how quickly it would become repetitive.

I really tried to give it a chance, even when everyone else was pooping on it. But I found that after I put the game down and I started doing something else (In this case playing another game) I did not find myself drawn back to the game. There was nothing there to draw me to it. Like others have said, it's like a bigger Minecraft, the only difference is that Minecraft allows you to build things. If I was able to build things outside of repairing a ship, I think I might of played it longer.

As the game stands right now (not counting future DLC that might make the game more playable) I would not recommend this game to someone who is looking for a action packed game, or something with a story behind it. I would however recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a nice, relaxing game to play from time to time. I give this game 3 stars out of 5. The graphics and ambiance are beautiful and give it it's 3 stars, but it's lack of story and lack of draw keep it from reaching that 4th or 5th star.

Have any of you played No Man's Sky? What was your experience? Did you like the game or dislike the game?

Captain America: Civil War (Review) [Spoiler Alert]

I am a big fan of all of the marvel movies. From the Spider Men where Toby Maguire was the star up till now where Tom Holland is the new Spider Man. That being said, I think this was a very good movie that was well written and directed. I always love how Marvel can incorporate some comedy into their action movies. It's always that "Just Right" amount and is  never over-saturated (too much comedy can ruin an action movie, in my opinion). The plot was good and the cliffhangers toward sequels, as always, was good and the practical as well as special effects were great.

I went into this movie with some rumors in the back of my head, one of them being that someone important was going to die. I left the movie glad that no one died. I am saddened that (based on rumors) some of these actors are hanging up their super hero costumes. I understand, we can't have Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man forever, I just hope that whoever they get to replace the current actors, are just as good as them.

Don't mess this up Marvel.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this to you guys/girls if you haven't watched it already. I would of liked to of seen the story line drawn out a little more, but with a 2 and a half hour run time, I think they did a great job. I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars.

If you have seen this movie, or if you watch it after reading this review, please let me know in the comments what you thought of the movie as well as who you were rooting for. I would like to know what you guys/girls think.
